New Research Improves ECT Outcomes

(PSYCHIATRIC TIMES) - Although conventional electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) with bitemporal (BT) electrode placement in depressed patients commonly achieves remission rates greater than 80%, fears of the occasional prolonged cognitive effects inhibit patients and practitioners in its use.
